Facebook Dating is a free feature inside the main Facebook app β not a separate download. Open the Facebook app, tap the Menu icon, then tap Dating. If you don’t see it, your account is either under 18 or in a country where Dating hasn’t launched; there’s no setting that turns it on. It works on Android and iPhone only β there’s no desktop or web version.
How to activate Facebook Dating
- Open the Facebook app and tap the Menu icon (three lines).
- Tap Dating. If it isn’t visible, tap See more first.
- Tap Get started and follow the prompts to confirm your details.
- Add photos and answer the profile questions β your Dating profile is separate from your main Facebook profile, and your Facebook friends won’t see it.
Setup takes about five minutes. Matching is based on your stated preferences, interests, and the events and groups you’re part of.
What you get inside Dating
- Secret Crush β pick up to 9 Facebook friends or Instagram followers; if one adds you back, you match.
- Second Look β revisit profiles you passed on.
- Audio and video chat β call a match without sharing your number.
- Events and Groups matching β see Dating profiles of people in events and groups you’ve joined.
Who can use it
You need to be 18 or older with a Facebook account in good standing, in a country where the feature has launched. Facebook Dating isn’t available everywhere β the reliable check is the menu itself: if Dating doesn’t appear there, it hasn’t reached your country yet.
If Dating won’t load or disappears
Update the Facebook app first β Dating often vanishes from outdated versions. If it still won’t load, see our guide to fixing Facebook Dating when it’s not loading. To leave, you can delete your Dating profile without touching your main Facebook account.
