How to Meet Singles on Facebook: 3 Routes That Work

Three routes actually work for meeting singles on Facebook: the built-in Facebook Dating feature, groups built around something you already care about, and local events you show up to in person. Route 1: Facebook Dating

Facebook Dating is a separate space inside the Facebook app. Your dating profile stays apart from your regular profile, and your Facebook friends are not shown as matches. As of 2026 you need to be 18 or older, in a supported country, and on the phone app, since Dating has never worked in a desktop browser.

Route 2: Groups built around a real interest

Groups work because you meet people over something you both already do: hiking, board games, single parents in your city, an alumni or church group. Conversation starts on its own instead of from a blank message box.

Vet a group before you join

• Members against activity. Forty thousand members and three posts a week means dead or bot-run. A 900-member group with daily conversation is worth more.
• Admins. Look for named admins with real profile history who answer questions and clear junk. No visible admin means no moderation.
• Posted rules. Real groups publish rules and enforce them. Groups with no rules fill with spam within weeks.
• A week of posts. Scroll back. Wall-to-wall selfies captioned “inbox me,” links to outside sites, or “join my WhatsApp” are your cue to leave.
